Threats to Our Heritage
Cornafulla Bog and the protected landscape views from the ancient Monastic City of Clonmacnoise are now threatened by proposals to install up to 12 very large industrial wind turbines on the bog. These structures, estimated to reach at least 220 metres in height, would sit less than 1 kilometre from the Monastic City, dominating the skyline both day and night.
While our community wholeheartedly supports renewable energy and climate action, this particular proposal is in the wrong place. It would fundamentally alter the character, peace, and visual integrity of this nationally important heritage landscape.
Heritage Safeguarding
We work to preserve the legacy of Clonmacnoise Monastic City, ensuring its stories and stone-carved history are protected for future generations to explore.
